This is the best Sunday morning breakfast.  It’s a cinch to make, has the perfect texture and is well…just, perfect.  You have to try it.  You can use regular white bread, homemade cinnamon bread, challah bread, whatever.  If you use the homemade cinnamon bread I put up yesterday, I promise you it’ll be the best french toast.  Ever.  Normally I’m not so demanding, but as I sit here after just eating a generous portion of the best french toast ever, I want you all to feel the same.

Ingredients:

  • 6 Slices of thick bread (I used Cinnamon Bread)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • butter or margarine for frying
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Whisk together heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon together.

Dip a slice of bread into the mixture, covering both sides.

Put in skillet on medium heat until golden on both sides (about 2 minutes per side.)

I transfer each slice into an oven safe bowl with the oven set on “warm” (about 170F) until I’m done with the other slices.

Serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
